Hajime Nogami has played the drums and percussion in many styles of music such as Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, Marching Band, Pops, ROCk, R&B, Fusion and World Music. He is known for his versatility and love of working in different musical contexts.
Hajime has studied percussion performance at the Riverside Community College in Riverside California U.S.A. and is a graduate of the college. During that time,he has also played Marching Tenor Drum in the Cadets , Seattle Cascade,Yamato, Riverside Community College Marching Band, RCC winter drum line, and Black Knights winter drum line.
Hajime's awards include All Japan Band AssOCiation's Finalists Highest Awards with Kashiwa Municipal High School Wind Ensemble in 2001, Drum Corps International's Finalist with the Cadets in 2004,DCI Tenor drum Individual Competition 4th place in 2003, Winter Guard International Percussion Ensemble Contest 1st place with RCC winter drum line and 2nd place with Black Knights,Reno Jazz Festival in Big band Division 1st place, and Combo Division 2nd place with RCC Jazz Band.
Hajime's career in the pasts were a touring with the famous Japanese Pop Band "Dreams Come True" in 2007, Naoki Ishikawa Solo project in 2008,2009, Rhythm and Drum magazine Festival in 2009, another Naoki's project "Gratifying Groove" in 2010. He also has played Jazz, Pop,ROCk and Latin Bands as a support musician in Tokyo areas. He is an endorser of Pearl Marching Drums, Sabian Cymbals,Remo Drum Heads and is VicFirth Sticks and Mallets International Artist.
As a Marching Band Instructor, He has leaded 13 groups of Marching Bands to Japan Marching Band Competition Finalists, and some of them have been Champion for many years. He also does Marching Percussion Clinics, solo performance(Tenor drum and Drum set), and arranging for Marching bands in Japan,Taiwan,Thailand and U.S.
