BIOGRAPHIES

Tang Chia Hoe, a renowned and distinguished marching band instructor cum band director in Malaysia, has involved himself in teaching and training the marching bands since 1991. His bands were very successful in the International competitions in many countries such as Italy, Thailand, China and Malaysia. His outstanding work was training one of his Malaysian top marching bands, Sultanah Asma High School to win the World Championship Marching Show Band (WAMSB) in Kuala Lumpur in 2011. His band won the championship in Gold with Honour, the Best Music Award and the Best Visual & Performance Award. Similarly, his graduate high school band, Keat Hwa Marching Band , has continually won state and national championships.

On 31st August 2012, Sultanah Asma High School band was the first marching band in Malaysia to be awarded THE SUDLER SHIELD Award , the prize in progressing from the John Philip Sonsa Foundation, USA. With all these achievements, Tang is greatly grateful to Mr. Mitsuo Nonami, a renowned and prominent Japanese music teacher from Fukuoka, whom he has been pursuing his music arrangement since 2000.

In February, 2012 , Tang was invited to be an adjudicator evaluating on music caption at the 31st Royals’ Cups Marching Bands in Thailand. His dedication and hard-work in music were paid off as he was opted by WAMSB to be an adjudicator in WAMSB competitions in Japan in August, 2013. He became an Indonesia marching bands judge in 2013 and 2014 respectively. His career reached its summit when he once again became an adjudicator in Brazil WAMSB World Championship in 2014. This year, May 2015, he is invited to be a marching band judge in Europe Open Champion Germany, Wamsb World Championship Denmark, Shanghai China, JOMC 2015 Indonesia.

In addition to having solid knowledge in teaching of instrumental music, Tang composes music and ensembles for Malaysian high school marching bands. His pieces of music are often highly commended to have unique stylistic and harmony structures. He also frequently conducts high school concert bands throughout Malaysia and Singapore. In 2004, he was conferred the prestigious Royals’ award, ‘Kedah State Excellent medal’ by the Royal Highness of Sultan Kedah for his excellent and dedication works.

Tang currently instructs and trains many high school as well as junior school marching bands throughout Malaysia, Singapore , and China. Furthermore, he is also the Managing Director of Wooi Concept Music centre, a company specializes in providing instructors and musical instruments as well as accessories to school marching bands throughout Malaysia.
