Whitford Scott

BIOGRAPHIES

Scott Whitford is a visual instructor and musician from Indianapolis, Indiana and is a member of the instructional team for the six-time World Champion Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps. Scott holds a diploma from Ball State University and is currently serving as the choreographer, visual, and music instructor for the Yokohama Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps in Yokohama, Japan. Scott was a member and soloist in the Concord Blue Devils from 2004 to 2005.

From 2012 to 2014, Whitford was the AssOCiate Director of Bands at Kokomo High School in Kokomo, Indiana. Also from 2012 to 2014, Scott served as Visual Co-caption head of the two-time Bands of America Grand National Champion Carmel Marching Greyhounds. In addition, he is in regular demand as an adjudicator, clinician, and consultant to marching bands and drum corps across the United States and Japan. In the past few years, he has had the privilege of serving on staff for the Boston Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps and Glassmen Drum and Bugle Corps as well as dozens of marching bands. Scott was an instructor for the BOA National Champion Avon Marching Black and Gold in 2008 and served as Visual Caption Head for the five-time BOA Class 1a National Champion Western Marching Panthers from 2004 to 2014. He also served as Visual Caption Head for the consistent BOA Grand National Finalist Lawrence Central SPIRIT of Central from 2009 to 2012.

When he isn’t teaching, Scott travels the world as a trumpet player and musical director for Royal Caribbean and Princess Cruise Lines as well as for a variety of national tours, shows, and Broadway productions.
